A single cask Aberfeldy named ‘Crisp Surprise’ by prominent independent bottler SMWS.
This tantalising dram full of ripe fruits and honey was distilled in September 2013 with an initial aging in ex-bourbon cask followed by a final cask maturation in 2nd fill ex-Jamaican rum barrique. This rare 11 year old is one of an outturn of 295, bottled at a robust 57.1% abv.
There’s an intriguing and very subtle influence from the rum cask with sharp fruits, sherbet and rogue crisps to contemplate. A whisky that rewards those looking for single cask whisky with an exotic feel that is rarely seen from this traditional Highland distillery.
