TASTING: "Aged in barrique with 20% new and bottled after ten months elevage. Aromatic and seductive with white peach and Golden Delicious along with hints of marzipan and chamomile, the well defined palate is waxy, lively and spicy with a generous dose of zesty citrus that electrifies the finish. A very classy White Burgundy that will surprise on the upside over the near term."

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: “Bader-Mimeur is owned by the Fossier family, and the 5th generation is now at the helm, with siblings Sebastien Fossier and Nathalie Bernard now in charge at the estate. The history dates to the 17th century when Charles Mimeur acquired the land surrounding the Chateau de Chassagne-Montrachet. His daughter Elise married Charles Bader, and together they established Maison Bader-Mimeur to develop the commercial side of the business with the wines mainly sold at the Halle aux Vins in Paris and in their cellar shop on Rue Saint Dominique. One of the jewels of their current holdings include the same vineyards surrounding the Château de Chassagne-Montrachet that date to Charles Mimeur. They also produce a collection of wines from vineyards in and around that heralded appellation including Saint-Aubin and Meursault. Just outside the stone wall of the château is their single vineyard Dessous les Mues dedicated to both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The clay and limestone soils in and around Chassagne allow for both varieties, and in combination with a collection of old vines, result in pedigreed, classy, and complex wines. These are excellent Bourgogne values that drink well above their price point, offering big league character with a minor league price.”
