Eager to experiment with The Balvenie profile using what he had learnt from a trip to Islay, distillery manager Ian Millar ordered a batch of Speyside peat and built a peat burner on the side of the kiln.
For one week a year, Balvenie distils a batch of peated malt, resulting in a delicately smoky whisky rich in honey, vanilla and citrus notes.
Nose: Speyside peat smoke is gentle and sweet with floral notes and honey.
Palate: Creamy and balanced, the peat smoke plays off against the citrus flavours, vanilla and Manuka honey.
Finish: The gentle smoke carries through from the nose with lingering vanilla right to the finish.
