CRITICAL ACCLAIM:

“The Cascina Adelaide 2020 Barolo Cannubi is a little softer and finer on first nose compared to the other new releases in this portfolio. That finesse is the quintessential Cannubi signature, and it is shaped by sandy soils and prime hillside exposures. This mid-weight wine shows a special elegance in this sunny vintage. Only 3,500 bottles were made.” - 95 PTS., MONICA LARNER, WINE ADVOCATE (01/2025)

“Bright, shimmering garnet red. Finely drawn bouquet of marzipan, violet scent and juicy, slightly ethereal cherry, with hints of fine wood savouriness. Smooth on the palate, compact tannins, with a lingering finish and a distinctly fruity note.” - 93 PTS, OTHMAR KIEM, SIMON STAFFLER, FALSTAFF (06/2024)

IMPORTER NOTES:

TASTING: “Cannubi represents the elegance of our Barolos,  thanks to the clay that characterize its soil. Barolo Cannubi is distinguished by a delicate  embroidery of fruit, with a dusting of mineral  and ash that lift gently from the bouquet.  You'll notice background tones of blue flower and sweet spice.”

VINEYARD: “Barolo is historically born in the Cannubi vineyard,  of which we are proud to own about half a hectare (0,5 ha).  Exposure: South-East Soil: tortonian soil with a predominant clay  composition made of Marne di Sant'Agata.  Altitudine: 250 m.s.l.m. Average age of vines: 60 years”

WINEMAKINIG: “(Aged) for 24 months in 16 Hl Slavonia oak barrels and  then in bottle for at least 12 months.”

ABOUT THE WINERY: “Cascina Adelaide began in 1817 as a group of vine growers owning vineyards in two of the most prestigious crus, Cannubi and Preda. The estate was bought over 20 yrs ago by Amabile Drocco who immediately updated the estate by building a modern underground cellar, introducing a new barrel system and more than doubling the size of the vineyards. Drocco’s father was a vine grower in a small village not far from Barolo. Our goal is to offer our Barolo enthusiasts a unique experience:  the opportunity to taste the difference of various soils from the Barolo region. That's why we treat our Barolo crus  in exactly the same way, from vineyard to bottle, with the same vinification and aging process. We let the soil speak for itself.”
