Chartreuse Green & Chartreuse Yellow

Green Chartreuse and Yellow Chartreuse together cover the full range of the legendary liqueur produced by Carthusian monks in Voiron, France. Both expressions share a secret recipe of 130 plants, herbs, and flowers — and only two monks in the world know its full composition. Both are naturally coloured, both are aged in oak under the order's supervision, and both have been produced continuously, with brief interruptions, since 1764.

Green Chartreuse is the bolder, drier, more intense expression at 55% ABV — a wave of alpine herbs, mint, anise, and wormwood, carried by a long, warming finish. It anchors cocktails like the Last Word and Bijou and holds up neat as a digestif. Yellow Chartreuse, bottled at 40% ABV, uses the same herbal base but a different maceration and infusion profile, delivering a softer, honey-forward, saffron-tinged palate with gentler herbal notes and a rounder mouthfeel. It works beautifully in Champs-Élysées, Alaska, and whisky-forward stirred drinks.

Having both on the shelf unlocks the full Chartreuse cocktail canon — swap between them to dial intensity up or down in herbal builds. Chartreuse production is famously limited worldwide because the monastery controls output, and both bottles tend to tighten in availability during the year.
