Overview

This Single Barrel Reposado from El Tesoro, crafted using the traditional Tahona method, is a Hi Proof hand-selected Store Pick (#B019-L363). Aged 8 months, this barrel sits at the intersection where Reposado's smoothness meets Añejo's depth — yet still retains the vibrant, unmistakable agave character of a Blanco. That's why we named it "Tahona Reponejo."

Tasting Notes

Nose: Roasted agave with sweet, earthy aromatics, soft vanilla, light oak, and a clean citrus zest finish.

Palate: A full-bodied wave of roasted agave leads into caramelized sweetness, white pepper, and bright minerality. The signature texture and weight of Tahona-pressed tequila come through beautifully.

Finish: Long and warming, with peppery spice and lingering oak.

Why "Tahona Reponejo"?

• 8 Months of Aging — Sits at the upper end of the Reposado range (2–11 months), just shy of Añejo territory (12+ months). It carries maturity without losing freshness.
• Tahona-Pressed — A traditional volcanic stone wheel slowly crushes the cooked agave. Far more labor- and time-intensive than mechanical pressing, but it captures the purest expression of agave flavor.
• Blanco Character Preserved — Despite 8 months in oak, the fresh, vegetal agave notes remain front and center rather than being overwhelmed by wood.
• Single Barrel — Hand-selected and tasted by the Hi Proof team. Never blended with any other barrel.

About El Tesoro

El Tesoro is produced at La Alteña Distillery in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.
