Commercial Description:

This distillery is a father-son project. James and Andrew Nelstrop opened their doors to the general public in 2007 after James, the elder Nelstrop, retired from a career in business and farming which took him from his native Lincolnshire into Australia, then Russia, then back to England. Color: Pale gold. Nose: Opens with honey, butterscotch, and mild smoke. A bit of maple and a good dose of wood follow. Palate: Toast and stone fruit--apricot jam comes to mind--soda out on the front of the palate. Smoke comes in before long, as well as a warm ginger note. Mainly smoke on the end, with walnut. Fairly light mouthfeel. It is a simple, easy-drinking single malt--there is not a lot of complexity, but it's well balanced, approachable, and pleasant, with some wonderful soft sweet and fruit notes to round out smoke.
