Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Las Pizarras Pinot Noir 2020 750ml

Las Pizarras is one of the most innovative projects in the recent years, with a great sense of origin and the equivalent of a Burgundy Grand Cru, which highlights the characteristics of Aconcagua Costa. Years of understanding and mapping the vineyard revealed specific blocks that would allow us to produce more complex and complete Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

Its name derives from the high percentage of metamorphic slate rock that is present in the vineyard.

An enticing pinot with rich, glossy raspberries, grapes, chalk, forest-floor berries, roses, white pepper and exotic spices. This is really tight and chalky on the palate, with super-fine, mealy tannins and an extremely long, linear finish. Very pretty, elegant and nuanced. Drinkable now, but best after 2024.

The Las Pizarras Pinot Noir comes from a selection of vineyards planted on slate soils on hillsides in the Coastal Range in the Aconcagua Valley. In a very warm year such as 2020, the grape harvest was moved forward to prevent the loss of freshness in the flavors. Some of the density was lost in the process, but the effect has been achieved. This is a pinot with tense tannins, red fruits, and a light structure, although sharp acidity adds to that sensation of tension. A good exercise in a year that was not entirely favorable for the variety, even in a cool area like this vineyard.
