The 2021 George Albrecht Schneider "Vom Kalk" Riesling is a standout from what many critics call an "old-school" German vintage. 2021 saw a return to a cool, wet summer followed by a “Golden” September/October in the region, allowing slow ripening. This produced incredibly aromatic wines with lower alcohol and racy acidity. On the palate, elegant notes of green apple, white citrus, and wet stone give way to a flinty, saline finish that reflects its limestone (Kalk) soil. Fermented to be quite dry (Trocken), it serves as a delicious pairing for light seafood, goat cheese, or spicy Asian cuisine where its structural acidity can cut through richness and heat. Prost!
