Germain-Robin was founded by Ansley Coale and Cognac distiller Hubert Germain-Robin as the first California brandy to break free from the constraints of Cognac — using flavorful California wine grapes rather than traditional Cognac varietals. The XO is built around its signature grape, Pinot Noir, with Colombard and Sémillon adding further dimension.
