Glenfiddich Project XX Bottling Note
The second release in Glenfiddich's Experimental Series is their Project XX expression, which was made not simply by one Malt Master, but 20! 20 Malt Masters were invited to the Glenfiddich distillery and invited them to pick any expression from the thousands of casks maturing in the warehouse. The 20 chosen whiskies were then married by Malt Master Brian Kinsman to create this single malt you see before your eyes. Hooray for teamwork!
Glenfiddich asked its 20 ambassadors to choose their favourite cask from the distillery's warehouses. From the character of these casks, malt master Brian Kinsman created a new, experimental whisky – Project XX.
A complex vatting of casks, from soft and fruity ex-bourbon to rich port pipes and sherry butts, Project XX is a refined and well-balanced whisky with lots of depth.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Producer's Tasting Note:
Nose: Classic fruitiness with hints of apple blossom and plump pear. A perfect balance of rich vanilla oak with golden sugar and a touch of liquorice.
Palate: Deep and mellow, the candyfloss sweetness is complemented by unusual notes of toasted almonds and cinnamon and a hint of crisp tannin.
Finish: Long lasting with a savoured sweet oakiness.
Very Enjoyable
With 20 Barrels, how could you go wrong?
17 Bourbon Barrels, 1 Port Pipe and 2Sherry casks, ='s yummy classic goodness.
For a NAS whisky, this is well rounded and luxurious.
Its deep and explorable. Delicious neat.
Four drops of water and a little time (cause I'm nerdy that way) it just explodes. Rich wood abounds with brown sugar glazing. Raisin bread, Green Apples, cinnamon and plenty more.
Drinks older than I believe it to be.
It's just dammed good and I'm happy to have experienced it.
Note: 1st bottle after release. Hope the next is as good as it is supposed to be a full time expression.
