Vosges refers to French Oak, originating from the Quercus Petraea species which has a looser wood grain than the more common Quercus Robur species, allowing additional flavor to be imparted more quickly. Heaven’s Door uses cigar barrels for the finishing process, which results in faster evaporation than standard 53 gallon barrels. All of this is worth it, as the resulting flavor profile is very good, highlighting both the high rye composition and bringing a balance of sweet notes into the mix. Heaven's Door is a small-batch collection of handcrafted American whiskeys developed in partnership with Bob Dylan! The perfect blend of art and craft, each bottle of Heaven's Door showcases Bob Dylan's distinctive, welded iron gates that he created in his studio, Black Buffalo Ironworks. Breaking with tradition, they finish the Straight Rye Whiskey in toasted oak cigar barrels, air-dried in the low-lying mountain region of Vosges, France. This proprietary finishing results in a smoother, more approachable rye with notes of orange peel, coriander, and spice. Bottled at 46% ABV.
