Liberia and Carol are life partners; their love is built by accepting each other on life's terms. Liberia, excited over a promotion, rushes home to celebrate with Carol. Upon her arrival, six African-American children confront Liberia. She questions how Carol was able to complete an adoption in the time frame of a workday. Liberia, who dislikes children, felt the presence of the children triggered her back into her childhood horrors. Carol has an unexpected accident, leaving Liberia to raise the children while dealing with their ghetto irritating neighbor.Liberia, searching for normalcy, is challenged and learns the importance of love and the irreversible nature of bad choices. Liberia is overwhelmed with grief alongside regret, which leads to her downfall. While visiting a comatose Carol in the hospital, Liberia befriends Carol’s doctor, who notices Liberia is on the brink of a nervous breakdown and places Liberia on a 24-hour suicide watch in the mental ward. During a group therapy season, Liberia encounters women suffering from similar trauma. She feels safe and begins to trust again. During a session, all is revealed concerning Carol's accident.Liberia must take action to deal with her past and forgive herself and others. Liberia is now open to accepting her new life and awakening her inner goodness. She joins her new contributors, and together, they become the catalysts that expose their deepest fears, forcing them to liberate themselves from their past. The impact of morality affects the women as they refuse to play the victim and decide to control their own decisions. Liberia, now able to accept herself, is ready to find the true identity of the adopted children. Serenity, the oldest of the children, reveals that their grandmother told them to find Carol in an emergency. Liberia begins the quest to find the grandmother and hidden truth, which leads her to travel down a rabbit hole, seeing her experiences mirror the children. As a result of her quest, all is revealed: secrets, betrayal, and deceit, mainly from her irritating neighbor, causing Liberia to question everything, including her and Carol’s relationship, now realizing it was all a lie.
