A magnificent wine that's built for long-term aging, with the intensity and tannin of a Pauillac. So dark and dense in black cherries, blackcurrants, dried blueberries, bittersweet chocolate, spearmint and creme de cassis. It's firm and layered from the first sip to the last, lingering long, with cocoa and mint in the finish. The firmest and most structured of the Lokoya lineup. Best from 2035.

Another stunning release, the 2022 Lokoya Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon shows intense black cherries, graphite, resinous herbs, sage, and currants, with tremendous minerality on the nose. Full-bodied and massively structured, it delivers beautiful concentration backed by substantial yet polished tannins and exceptional length. This 100% Cabernet spent 22 months in 88% new French oak and is going to evolve gracefully for 25+ years. It will most likely be one of the longest-lived wines in the vintage.

The Jackson family purchased the Veeder Peak property in 1994, from which the fruit for this Lokoya bottling comes. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder offers up fabulous spice notes, ranging from cinnamon and clove to anise and sage, all layered atop a dark-fruited base of black cherries and cassis. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich, yet silky smooth, this is tannic but ripe and polished, balanced and long on the finish. Maybe the strongest of the Lokoya bottlings this year?

This is saturated with cassis, plum reduction and boysenberry pâte de fruit notes, all framed by robustly singed apple wood and carried by an energetic spine of bramble and tar. Shows an extreme side -- how could a wine not in this vintage -- but the definition and drive set this apart. As good as it gets in 2022. Best from 2026 through 2038. 837 cases made.
