Lot 40 Dark Oak Canadian Whisky

This is a 100% rye that is distilled in both column and pot stills, then aged in no. 2 char, virgin American oak casks for an unspecified amount of time. The spirit is then additionally finished in heavy, no. 4 char, oak casks. This additional finishing draws out deeper oaky notes from the cask but also draws out a caramel sweetness, more prominent vanillans and, of course, a darker colour.

Nose: Classic Lot 40 aromas - fruity, floral and baking spices with an additional layer of cardamom and cloves.

Palate: Heavy Demerara brown sugar, caramel and very prominent cherry notes.

Finish: Oak overtones linger with an unusual menthol hit on the back palate.
