Macallan 25 Year Old Sherry Oak Single Malt Scotch

The Macallan went above and beyond to control even aspect of this bottling. First, they picked out perfect American and European oak barrels and dried them for two years. These special barrels were then sent to Spain, where Sherry producers used them to age Oloroso Sherry for two years under the watchful eye of the Macallan. Once the barrels had taken on the perfect sherry influence, the barrels were sent back to Macallan, filled with their single malt, and allowed to age for 25 years. The spirit is surprisingly fresh for such a mature bottle, with lovely notes of citrus and leather, tobacco, baking spices, cinnamon and stone fruits. An exceptional example of the sherry-influenced spy side dram.
