Maker’s Mark Cask Strength is bottled straight from the barrel at between 108 and 114 proof. While that is lower than most Cask Strength whiskies, Maker’s Mark hasn’t created a “yummy” line of spirits by putting an emphasis on the proof of each alcohol. 

The proof fluctuates with each bottle because of how the “angels’ share” of their whiskey changes based on the temperature outside the cask. While Cask Strength retains that same sweet aroma, full flavor and warm finish as their original whiskey, it is a brand-new bourbon. Bottled at its highest proof, this bourbon has notes of big oak, charcoal and vanilla on the nose. On the palate, Cask Strength has flavors that are richer and more robust than traditional Maker’s Mark. The finish is longer and has no rough or bitter flavor as it hangs on the front of the tongue.
