Mars Shinshu Tsunuki: The First is the inaugural single malt release from the Hombo family’s Tsunuki Distillery in Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Japan — marking the historic return of whisky production to the family’s original Kagoshima roots. “The First” signifies this as the inaugural release from the newly active Tsunuki distillery operation.

The Hombo family produced whisky from Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyushu from 1949 until relocating to Nagano in 1984. The reactivation of the Tsunuki Distillery returns whisky production to the family’s southern Japan origin, with the warmer Kagoshima climate producing a distinctly different character from the cool Nagano Mars Shinshu spirit. The First represents the debut of this revived production line.
