History
Michter's "Celebration" Sour Mash Batch 1 is created with tradition in mind at the Michter's Distillery in Kentucky, Louisville. It was crafted in pursuit of Michter’s goal of making the greatest American whiskey. In the 18th century, a Swiss Mennonite farmer named John Shenk settled his family near Pennsylvania's Blue Mountain Valley. After years of hard work, he found himself with more grains than he could sell, leading him to purchase a still to distill his excess into whiskey. This distillery, eventually named Michter's, became the United States' first distilling company. The creation of Michter's "Celebration" is a testament to the distillery's legacy, highlighting unique barrel finishes and an emphasis on quality. It is a barrel strength bourbon aged in a second custom barrel made from 24-month air-dried wood, toasted to enhance its flavor profile. This attention to detail results in a highly flavorful bourbon that celebrates the rich American whiskey heritage.
