The Coffey Still is the world’s first patented continuous or column still perfected by Mr. Aeneas Coffey in 1830. Masataka Taketsuru valued the features of this type of still, which retains the flavours of the ingredients and creates a unique texture.
Predominantly made from corn, Nikka Coffey Grain is matured in several different casks such as re-fill, re-charred ex-bourbon American oak to deliver the sweet and mellow flavours of the distillates. This Japanese whisky is smooth and sweet — an excellent addition to any whisky collection.
Nose: Bourbon-like vanilla and corn notes with an herbal hint of chamomile.
Palate: Sweet, fruity flavours of melon, grapefruit and thick syrup, balanced by crunchy biscuits and fresh vanilla.
Finish: Corn notes, sweet and vibrant, last on the finish.
