- Artist-Grade 100% Cotton Sketchbook 8×12" Hot Pressed. Made with thick 140 lb / 300 gsm Type-C watercolor paper that is acid-free and has thin external sizing. Type-C paper is quite absorbent and it allows smooth "dreamy" color blending and strong use of special wet-on-wet watercolor techniques like granulation and blooms. Works also perfectly with ink and gouache painting. Opens fully flat and stays flat even under heavy water use.
- Pleinly C-type watercolor paper allows you to get a similar dreamy and poetic look that you see on traditional Japanese and Chinese art where absorbent rice paper is used allowing very soft and dreamy wet background washes and delicate dry-brush work on foreground to create unique contrast.
- For me as a watercolorist this paper can give more poetic results than fully sized papers. It works especially well for the works that are started in a wet-on-wet technique and paint until the paper is dried out in one go - alla prima style - with only delicate layering and corrections. - Also Excellent for Ink & Gouache: Ink painters traditionally use unsized or use semi-sized papers which have very absorbent or semi-absorbent surface. This paper works like a semi-absorbent surface.
- Same C-Type Paper in Sketchbooks & Loose Sheets: This sketchbook uses the exact same C-Type paper as Pleinly loose sheets. Move between sketchbook and loose sheets without changing technique, water handling, or paint behavior.
