Roland Schmitt Pinot Noir 2023

This comes from the organically farmed 20+ year old vineyards of the Schmitt family, which has been farming this part of Alsace since the 1700s. In the cellar they utilize a less is more philosophy and age in stainless steel to let the wine express itself. The nose opens with spice, forest floor, cherry, plum and a bit of lifted wet stones. On the palate this shows the ripeness of the vintage with flavors of plum and cherry joined to savory notes of cedar and turned earth. This would work well with a Sunday Roast Chicken or dim sum.
