Expressive black fruit jumps out of the glass. Juicy black cherry and cassis combine with blueberries, licorice and sandalwood. Full bodied and intense on the palate. Fine grained, grippy tannins balance well with a fresh, black-fruit acidity. Tobacco, nutmeg and savory spice bring complex layers to mulberry and bramble fruit that round out the palate. A typically well-structured Cabernet with excellent length.

This harmonious red layers a core of ripe black currant, blueberry and boysenberry fruit with lively acidity and accents of anise, mineral, dried mint and white pepper. The Rust en Vrede 2022 Stellenbosch Estate Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is a nicely concentrated effort that packs on layers of dark fruit, baked plum, ferrous earth, rye bread and fragrant tones of mixed herb. It's a lovely expression of this noble grape (which ages in French oak for 18 months). It has what I can only describe as a slightly wild side of dried bramble that is characteristic of a South African Cabernet Sauvignon. It finishes with balanced acidity and mineral tones that keep it fresh and light on its feet. Production is 57,092 bottles.
