Stainless Steel Scouring Sponge - Winco SPG-50 50 Gram Small Pack for Commercial Cleaning

The Winco SPG-50 is a 50-gram stainless steel scouring sponge, the small-pack version of Winco's commercial scrubber line. Made of woven stainless steel wire, it removes baked-on grease, carbon, and food residue that traditional sponges and plastic scrubbers cannot touch. Standard issue for pot wash stations cleaning commercial cookware.

When to Use

Stainless wire scrubbers are appropriate for: cast iron (carbon buildup), uncoated stainless steel pans, carbon steel cookware, stockpots with caramelized residue, baking sheets with baked-on grease, grill grates. They are NOT appropriate for: non-stick coated cookware (destroys the coating), aluminum (leaves marks), enameled cookware, glass surfaces, or any plated or polished decorative finish.

Why Stainless Over Steel Wool

Stainless wool does not rust between uses, can go in commercial dishwashers, and lasts roughly 10x longer than carbon-steel wool. The upfront cost is higher but per-use cost is lower. Stainless is also food-safe; any fine particles that detach during scrubbing pass through digestion without concern.

Care

Rinse thoroughly after each use to remove food residue. Squeeze out excess water and air-dry between uses. Replace when the wire mesh starts to compress and lose abrasive action - typically after 30-60 uses depending on intensity.
