Stranahan's Sherry Cask American Single Malt

Stranahan’s is a favorite in the craft-spirit world, renowned for their single-malt whiskeys crafted in the Rocky Mountains. They are sticklers for careful process and ensuring every step of the distilling and aging process is handled to perfection. The Sherry Cask expression is a slightly sweeter version of their Rocky Mountain Single Malt, moved after four years of aging to 500-liter Oloroso Sherry Barrels that were previously used to age sherry for over 40 years, resulting in a deep sherry flavor that marries well with the single malt. The spirit is a beautiful burgundy color, with notes of stone fruit on the nose, supported by vanilla and oak. On the palate there is warm leather, candied nuts, toffy, and raisin, and the long finish shows off the sherry finish. A nice dram any time, perhaps best suited to the end of a meal.
