The Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Madeira Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Named for a horse that was a champion the year the first small batch of this whisky was made, 1867, Tyrconnell was once the most popular of Irish whiskeys. Prohibition reduced it's influence, but not its quality, and now this heritage brand is making a comeback.  This double-distilled single-malt spirit retains the flavor of the barley used to create the wart, while still showing the sophistication of maturation in hard wood. This expression is aged for 10 years before being finished in Madeira casks. We found salt and fruit on the nose, plums on the palate, and a nice dry finish with notes of allspice.
