Vintage Moroccan Beni Ourain Rug No. M0154

Circa 1980's. A unique classic vintage Beni Ourain sourced from the Tahla province in Morocco. Featuring a soft natural cream background, made from opulent middle Atlas wool - a highly sought-after fibre known for its unparalleled quality. The design of this piece is unique and follows the classic Beni Ourain dark lines against a cream background, but also introduced subtle red hues along the border and field. You can tell by the precision of the grid and the density of the knots that the weaver was experienced and probably older, which we can confirm as this piece was sourced from her granddaughter.

Amazigh rugs are originally handmade by Amazigh women, who have learnt the skill of weaving from their mothers and grandmothers. Each piece is unique with a strong character that shows in the story they tell and the imperfections they proudly display, reminding us of the beauty of authenticity and slow patient craftsmanship.
