In 1889, after 20 years in the employ of his contemporaries, W.B. Saffell opened a distillery of his own. With grit, determination, and his signature sour mash, his delicate golden Kentucky bourbon became a treasure of pre-prohibition America.
This bottle is part of the Whiskey Barons Collection, started in 2017 as a nod to the Bourbon Barons of Yore. The collection breathes new life into long-forgotten, pre-prohibition brands that helped Kentucky become a hub for bourbon production in the 1800s. The three brands featured in this collection are Old Ripy, Bond & Lillard, and W.B. Saffell.
