It is crafted from Mash Bill #2, like other great blends from the distillery such as Pappy Van Winkle, Blanton's, William Larue, and Elmer T. Lee. It is a sour mash of corn, malted barley, and extra rye. This bourbon is smooth and mellow with creamy notes of vanilla, mingled with dried berries, and undertones of maple syrup. History
William Larue Weller 2018 is between 10 to 14 years old. It is part of the highly coveted exclusive "Antique Collection Series," an award-winning wheated bourbon produced with tradition at Buffalo Trace Distillery. This series honors The Wellers, who began distilling in the 1740s in Kentucky. After serving in the Mexican-American War, William Larue Weller revived the family business, innovating whiskey by introducing wheat as a secondary grain, leading to a softer, sweeter profile. His success made his bourbon immensely popular, and he established a certification of authenticity. After his passing, Pappy Van Winkle played a crucial role in the brand's legacy, ultimately leading to the establishment of Stitzel-Weller Distillery in 1935. Buffalo Trace acquired the W.L. Weller brand in 1999, preserving its nearly original recipe.
