History
Xicaru Pechuga Mole Mezcal is a unique tequila crafted with tradition in mind. This spirit is named Xicaru, which is the Zapotec word for beautiful. It was created with heritage and tradition to commemorate Fernando Santibanez’s grandmother, whose recipe he used to reproduce this fine spirit. Crafted in small batches in Matatlan, Oaxaca, it is produced from hand-picked 100% Blue agave, which is grown in Mexico. The pineapples, the heart of the plant, are cooked in a conical oven and then double distilled, maturing for twelve months in American Oak barrels. Xicaru reflects Fernando Santibanez’s desire to share a traditionally produced mezcal that is both approachable and distinct, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Oaxaca. Using his grandmother’s recipe, Fernando makes small batches of Xicaru Mezcal with time-honored methods, ensuring that each bottle captures the essence of his family's legacy.
