Vinous 94 Points | Pure Chardonnay from vines around 25 years old. The bright energy hits you with the first sniff — lift, brightness, and something immensely citric and pervasive. Exquisite shape: it glides and moves with agility, like a drop of liquid rolling across plumage — always entire, rounded, shining, smooth and mobile. The finish sinks into soil, draws you in, seasons the tongue with saltiness and floors you with incredible equanimity. Endless, profound, and ineffable. Bone-dry.

About the Wine

Velich Darscho is named after a smaller lake in the village near the estate in Burgenland, Austria. The fruit comes from vineyards that are 35–50 years old — significantly older than the Vinous note suggests (which references 25-year-old vines), reflecting the depth and complexity in the glass. This is Velich’s step up from the Tó cuvée, showing greater concentration, minerality, and aging potential.
